Miconi Tile, San Rafael, California

Miconi Marble & Tile was started by David Miconi in Odgen, Utah. The company’s original location is still in operation. Miconi moved in the 1980s to California’s Marin County where he met David Shawn.

Shawn, who was still an undergraduate at UC Berkeley at the time, began an apprenticeship with Miconi at a Bay Area tiling company. Eventually the pair decided to take the risk and open their own company.

Since opening in 1994, Miconi Marble & Tile has become a premier company in the Bay Area and throughout California. Miconi himself is known as the “Tile Guru” and is often consulted by contractors and other tile and flooring companies for help in enhancing their own projects. Miconi and Shawn have a combined almost 60 years’ experience with tile and stone installation.
